Dymo Labelwriter Print Server Software

If you are using OfficeMate with Terminal Services, also known as Remote Desktop Services, you can still use your DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer even though your OfficeMate software is running on a remote computer. In order to use a DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer with Terminal Services, you must allow your local USB port to be available during a terminal server session and install the DYMO LabelWriter Software and DYMO printer driver on the remote computer.

  • The DYMO LabelWriter requires the DYMO 8.6.6.11 software. Later versions are not supported. Click here to download the driver.
  • The instructions in this topic pertain only to the DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer. Eyefinity does not support the use of any other DYMO equipment.
  • You cannot use a DYMO printer in all Terminal Services or cloud computing environments. A DYMO printer cannot print a job sent from an outside network. For example, a DYMO printer will not print jobs sent through the web. However, if set up correctly, a DYMO printer can print jobs that are sent through a VPN or a local network.
  • DYMO does not directly support Windows Terminal Services.

  • Depending on the policies of your network, local serial port mapping might be disabled for some or all remote connections.
  • You might see a security warning message asking if you want to connect your local disk drives, local ports, or smart card to the remote computer. To enable one or more of these connections, select the appropriate check boxes. If you choose not to enable these connections, a remote connection is still established, but these resources are not available to the remote computer.
  • You must install Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection 6 (or later) on the local computer in order to use Terminal Services. For more information about about Remote Desktop Connection, go to Microsoft’s website.

Earlier LabelWriter printer models are NOT supported by this version of DYMO Label software.   • You must install the DYMO LabelWriter software and DYMO printer driver manually on the terminal server. Otherwise, the server may install a generic driver for the DYMO printer when the local computer connects to the server. The DYMO printer will not function without a DYMO printer driver installed on the server.
  • Installing the DYMO LabelWriter software from the DYMO LabelWriter CD automatically installs the DYMO printer driver.
  • You may need to install either v7.8 or 8.x of the DYMO LabelWriter software.

The current range includes labels for Dymo LabelWriter printers, Costar LabelWriter printers, Dymo Rhino / RhinoPro Industrial label printers, Dymo LetraTag Label makers and for the Dymo LabelManager Label Maker range. The DYMO 450 Turbo is a continuous printing format printer. To get your labels to print correctly, Vend needs to know this format. To set this up, follow the steps below: 1. In Vend, navigate to Setup - General. Click the Label Printer Format dropdown box. Select Continuous feed and click Save. Currently, only the DYMO EL Turbo USB and DYMO LabelWriter 330 Turbo, 400, 400 Turbo and Twin Turbo are know to work only with HP 175x Ethernet USB print server. To connect successfully: Any DYMO EL Turbo with serial number before will need the flash upgrade ‘flash EL Turbo.exe’.

  1. Install the DYMO LabelWriter software from the CD that came with your printer.
    If you do not have the DYMO LabelWriter CD, download the printer driver and software application from the DYMO website.

    When the DYMO Label Software installation launches, the License Agreement window opens.

  2. Click the I Accept radio button and click Next.
  3. Click Next to bypass the welcome message.
  4. Click Browse, select where to install the DYMO Label Software, and then click Next.
  5. Click Next to bypass the installation message.
  6. When asked to select a connection method, click the Network (LAN) radio button and then click Next.
  7. When asked to select the type of printer, select DYMO LabelWriter 450 from the drop-down menu.
  8. When asked to select a networked printer, type printer.
  9. Click Next to continue until the installation is complete.
  10. Print a test label from the terminal server by following the instructions listed under the “Printing Your First Label” section of the DYMO LabelWriter Quick Start Guide.

  1. On the local computer attached to the DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer, click Start.
  2. Select Programs or All Programs.
  3. Select Accessories.
  4. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

    The Remote Desktop Connection window opens.

  5. Click Options.

    The Remote Desktop Connection window expands to show you more options.

  6. Click the Local Resources tab.

  7. Select the Printers check box in the Local devices and resources box.
  8. Click the General tab.

  9. Click Save in the Connection settings box.
    The information that you set up becomes the default setting for all Remote Desktop connections on this computer and is saved in a file called Default.rdp.
  10. Click Connect to open a terminal server session.
  11. Open the DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer properties within the terminal server session.
    If the DYMO printer is not available within the terminal server, follow the instructions at listed under To install the DYMO Label Software on the terminal server.
  12. Click the Ports tab.
  13. Select the TS### port that corresponds with the workstation that is attached to the printer.
  14. Click Apply to save your settings.
  1. From the computer attached to the DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer, open a terminal server session.
  2. Open OfficeMate Administration.
  3. Click Setup and select Preferences.
  4. Select the Label Printer tab.
  5. Ensure that the DYMO LabelWriter 450 printer is set as your default label printer through the TS### port.
  6. Click OK to save your settings.
  7. Open a patient’s record in the Patient Demographics window.
  8. Click Label to print a mailing or file folder label on your DYMO LabelWriter 450 nprinter.

    If the job does not print, you may need to change the following:

    • DYMO LabelWriter software version. If you are using v7.8, try upgrading to v8.x, and if you are using v8.x, try using v7.8.
    • Printer driver. The DYMO LabelWriter driver must be installed on the local work station and on the terminal server. The DYMO printer will not function if a generic driver is installed.
